It is a great pleasure to be with delegates, artists and young friends from across Asia in this lovely and vibrant season and under the beautiful night sky. We are gathered in an Asian culture carnival, a joyous festive celebration of our common cultural heritages. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I extend a warm welcome to all distinguished guests and artists present in this event.

As a Chinese saying goes, “Spring comes to a garden when all the flowers bloom.” We Asian countries boast ancient and splendid cultures, each having its own distinct features and each contributing to the splendor and harmony of all. The diversity of civilizations in Asia has nurtured colorful and enduring cultures on our continent. Tonight, we will see Asian cultural flowers in full bloom before our very eyes, and indulge ourselves in art that brings together hearts and minds across nations and embodies a charming and dynamic Asia that enjoys peace and progress.

The Chinese people have always treasured good-neighborliness as being most valuable for a country. We believe in amity among neighbors. We take our neighbors just as relatives and pursue friendly relations with our neighbors. We sincerely hope that Asian countries will come together like passengers in the same boat and look out for our common good. Let us keep abreast of the times, develop ourselves amid the trend of world development, and join hands to create an even brighter future for Asia and for the world.
